Various writers and authors take inspiration and ideas from other creative projects - tv shows, movies, other books, history, myths, and fairy tales. Anything that can help cultivate the mind and motivate those grey cells of yours. These inspirations can help you to gain your spark back and enable you to focus on your own projects - whether that be writing your own books or otherwise.
Here are my favourite things to take inspiration from:
Supernatural - I've always been a fan of this series, it's been a comfort binge-watch show whenever I need the strength to carry on in life. It gives me great distractions from worries and eases my worries. But not only that, the number of mystical creatures and monsters the Winchester brothers hunt and deal with can help with my own stories. It is great to figure out relationships and storylines from Supernatural. I'm going to miss my daily binge of Supernatural. But hey, there are fifteen seasons so rewatching will be great.
W.I.T.C.H. - The magazines were probably one of the things that forged the way to my obsession with magic and adventure. I loved imaging myself as Will Vandom, wanting to be a guardian of the veil, and saving the day. It was an amazing start to my creative mind, making me realize that I love anything magical in life.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians - Now, it was this series that got me into reading, Rick Riordan created a universe that I wanted to be apart of. He used words to pull me into a world of Greek myths and I started writing my own ideas after reading his books. This series will always be my beginning in the writing career. Thank you, Rick Riordan.
Epic of Gilgamesh - This is the first-ever epic written known to mankind. Everything after this arguably takes inspiration from the storyline. It is the foundation of writing and stories. Gilgamesh being the role model heroic figure for us to follow and learn from. I'm thankful I was able to research on this tale and understand the roots and history of writing.
Grimm Fairy tales - These were quite a shock for me to read as a teenager, I never knew how dark all our Disney favourite movies actually were. And I loved it. The dark vibe from them fuels a creative mind into new ideas. But I also loved how the villains always got their comeuppance.
PS - a Sam to brighten your day ~
